God: Son, I have a request from me to you.
Jesus: Yes, Father?
God: Son, my children on earth have become distant, rebellious, and I want them back.
I want them to be my walking partners again. I want to hear their stories and talk with
them about important things. Life things. I want to embrace them when they are sad
and rejoice with them when they are happy! I can't seem to touch them so I want to do
something. Something that involves you and your willingness to be a sacrifice for them.
Are you willing to hear my plan?
Jesus: Sure, Father... what is it? I see the lost souls in our children and I see the pain in their
lives. My heart breaks when I feel Your hunger to be near them and see the loss in your
eyes. I am broken every time I look down upon the earth and see the children wandering
endlessly around looking for something they can't touch or see. I will help just tell me
what I need to do.
God: Son, this won't be easy for You, but know I will be with you through it. It means leaving
this place... this beautiful place I have built for us here. This holy place will be a distant
memory to you for a while. You must go and be among our children. Born just as they
are born, live just as they have lived. Experience the pain and the suffering that they
experience. Then and only then can I truly know my children and they will know me.
Jesus: But if I leave here, and have only a distant memory of heaven, how will that help them to know you?
God: I will still be with you. I will give you the hope and the power to do My will while you
walk with them. My will is to be done. You are my precious son...I dread what you must
endure to fulfill my plan, but it is the only way to truly touch my created. I must let them
know who I am and how much love I have for them. There is no truer love than this than
when one gives up their life for a friend. I must give up my life for my created... and my
life is you. You will walk in loneliness at times, you will dissipate anger sometimes, you
show my will in all you do. Continue to look to me and I will guide you through it all.
In the end you will experience great pain and suffering that must be experienced. But,
My Precious Son, know that although you will feel I have forsaken you, I have not! For
your death shall be life, life for You, life for my children and life for Me in having them
return to Me.
Jesus: It saddens me that it has to come to this, but Father, I will do what you ask. I will go
and be your sacrifice. I want to be the one to lead our Children back to our embrace.
Send me Father, send me.
After all this, I thought, wow, that Jesus would beg his Father to send Him to such an ordeal. The pain He endured both emotionally with his disciples and the pain on the cross. Of seeing his own people shouting for his demise. I surely couldn't do it. I don't really know anyone who could. I am in awe over the thought that He knew what He was getting Himself into. And He did it all for me... and you! It is confounding at best... something I may never truly understand.
But one thing I do understand... if God loves me that much, to put His only Son through all of that for me... Then I can and will give my little life and my little pondering and my pursuits over to Him that He will be glorified! And I say my little life, because in the vastness of the bigger picture I see, I see how insignificant we are... yet in that insignificance God wants us to be a part of His bigger picture! His bigger picture revolves around us and our ability to love one another as He first loved us. When, oh, when will we learn?
